- Before becoming a writer you should become a reader. The more you read, the more original and structured your text will be. You should understand what you are writing about before starting to write. Read only good books and enjoy your reading!
- Kill adverbs. Adverbs are descriptive words. They do not add anything to your text. One of the most important secrets of a-plus writing is “To show instead of telling”. Adverbs tell. Your texts should be clear enough for the reader to get an idea;
- Write simply. You can write a story with a complicated plot and metaphors but still, you should find the easiest ways to express your thoughts. Avoid metaphors that make an extreme tension effect on your reader. Perhaps, it is the only rule of a-plus writing that you will always be breaking down. At least you should know why you break it down;
- Make a plan first, then work on your outline. Thomas Edison said once that genius is 1% of inspiration and 99% of insistence. It means that you plan in advance and only then make outlines. Proofread your outlines as many times as it is necessary;
- Check your spelling and grammar. You do not have to learn all rules by heart. There are lots of dictionaries and handbooks online that can help you check yourself.
